Camp New Connections is a four-week, summer day camp for children, ages 7 through 17, who have Asperger's Syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, pervasive developmental disorders and non-verbal learning disabilities. The camp, a component of McLean Hospital's Child and Adolescent Program, Center for Neurodevelopmental Services, is designed to help children develop social skills through fun activities, such as drama, arts and crafts, communication games, swimming and field trips—all within a therapeutic context. As part of the core camp curriculum, children receive direct instruction on social skills, body language and non-verbal communication, conversation, problem solving and awareness of self and others.
